Juan Nicasio was fantastic in his return to the Major Leagues tonight as the Rockies defeated the Dodgers 3-0. He scattered three hits over seven innings while not allowing any runs in route to his fifth victory on the season. He issued one walk on the day and struck out three Dodgers on the night. Clayton Kershaw pitched well on the night as well but once again was unable to get the support he needed from his offense. He finished the night going seven innings allowing six hits, three runs, walked one and struck out 10. It was his sixth loss on the year, and the second time this year in which he has gone at least seven innings and allowed less than three runs and been saddled with the loss. Both games were 3-0 losses by the Dodgers. Rafael Betancourt worked the ninth inning for the Rockies and slammed the door on the Dodgers and collected his 14th save of the year.
There was not much offense on the night but most of it came from the bat of DJ LeMahieu. LeMahieu went 3 for 5 on the night with one RBI and a run scored. Charlie Blackmon also had two hits on the night including a double and also had a stolen base.
The Rockies will be back in action on Saturday against the Dodgers on the Fox Game of the Week. First pitch is scheduled for 5:15 PM Mountain time. The Rockies will be sending Tyler Chatwood to the mound to face off against Zach Greinke.
