The Rockies won the game and took the series from the Padres as they defeated them 5-4 tonight in what turned out to be a very long game. Jorge De La Rosa took the win on the night even though he was less than spectacular on the night. He battled control issues on the night and lasted just 5+ innings allowing only two hits, two runs, four walks and struck out four. The four walks was the most that he has issued in any of his starts this year. De La Rosa is now 9-5 on the year with a 3.21 ERA. San Diego starter Andrew Cashner did not fare much better as he also lasted just five innings allowing eight hits, three runs (two earned), two walks and struck out five batters. Cashner took the loss on the night which pushed his record to 5-5 on the year with a 3.81 ERA. Rafael Betancourt notched his 13th save of the
Offensively the Rockies were able to pound out 13 hits against the Padres. Charlie Blackmon, DJ LeMahieu, Todd Helton and Yorvit Torrealba each had two hits on the night. Blackmon had two RBI including an RBI triple in the eighth inning that proved to be the game winning run. The Rockies saw the ball a lot better tonight then they did last night when they were nearly shut out by Eric Stults. The power has yet to come on the road trip but they are hoping that a trip to Hollywood to take on the Dodgers will cure that.
The Rockies will be back at it in Los Angeles tomorrow night as they face the red hot Dodgers. Game time tomorrow will be at 8:10 PM Mountain time. It will be the first game of a four game series and it is the last series before the All Star Break.
