Drew Pomeranz will be joining the Rockies on Sunday and will be replacing Juan Nicasio in the starting rotation. Pomeranz has had an up and down year at the AAA level but he has had three good starts in a row and the Rockies hope that he has figured out a lot of the issues that he had at the Major League level last year. Nicasio was optioned to AAA in order to make room for the return of Rafael Betancourt who returned from the disabled list on Friday. Nicasio will look to get some work in at the Minor League level and work on his secondary pitches and making them more of a weapon that he can use as a starting pitcher. If it does not work then we could see Nicasio in the bullpen if he makes it back to the Major Leagues.

Pomeranz will be making his 2013 debut on Sunday against the Giants when he will be facing off with Madison Bumgarner. He will be hoping to have better success this year and he will be working on controlling the strike zone and keeping the ball in ballpark in order to give the Rockies the best chance to win.
