Rockies Swept by the Blue Jays

The Colorado Rockies were swept by the Toronto Blue Jays after losing on Wednesday night 5-2. It was another bad start to the game as Juan Nicasio gave up a three run home run to Adam Lind in the first inning of the game, and the Rockies offense was never able to catch up. Nicasio finished the game going five innings giving up four hits, four runs (two earned runs), walked one and struck out three. Michael Cuddyer was able to extend his hitting streak to 17 games when he hit a single in the first inning. Carlos Gonzalez, Wilin Rosario and Yorvit Torrealba each had two hits on the night and CarGo hit his league leading 21st home run of the season. He is currently on pace to have 47 home runs on the year. If he can keep it up then he will be in the conversation for the MVP when it comes time to vote.

The Rockies will be heading to Washington DC tonight to take on the Washington Nationals for a four game series. Last week when the Nationals were at Coors Field, they were lucky enough to not have to face Stephen Strasburg or Gio Gonzalez. They will still miss Gio this time but they will have to face the flame throwing Strasburg who is scheduled to pitch on Friday night. Tomorrow, Roy Oswalt will be making his much anticipated debut as a member of the Colorado Rockies. He will be wearing his usual number 44 jersey when he takes the hill as he made a deal with Juan Nicasio who was wearing that number. Hopefully he can add a spark to the rotation and get the Rockies going in the right direction on the mound.
