Rockies Lose Game One in Boston

Juan Nicasio really struggled tonight which lead to a blow out victory for the Red Sox at Fenway Park by the final score of 11-4. Nicasio could not by an out if his life depended on it and finished the game after throwing just 2 1/3rd innings on the night. He allowed 12 hits, seven runs (six earned) one walk and struck out two. Surprisingly it could have been worse as he was able to wiggle out of a bases loaded jam with only one out in the first inning. Nicasio now drops to 4-4 on the year and his ERA now sits at 5.31.

The Red Sox pounded out a season high 20 hits and every starter for them had at least one hit and seven out of the nine starters had two hits or more. The Rockies had a fairly good offensive night as they scored four runs on 11 hits but unfortunately they were in too deep of a hole to ever make it a close game. Michael Cuddyer went 2-5 to extend his hitting streak to 22 straight games. Wilin Roario and Nolan Arenado each had three hits.

The final game of the two game series will be played tomorrow afternoon with first pitch at 2:05 PM Mountain time. Roy Oswalt of the Rockies will be taking on John Lackey of the Red Sox.
