This Day in Baseball History: 6/13

A look at June 13th in the pages of Baseball History

1913: Christy Mathewson narrowly defeats the Cubs 3-2 and picks up his 300th career win. He would go on to finish his career with 373 wins over 17 seasons in the Major Leagues.

1957: Ted Williams hits three home runs in a game for the second time in a season. He becomes the first American league player to accomplish this feat.

2003: Roger Clemens joins the 300 win club as he beats the Cardinals 5-2. He also records his 4000th career strikeout in the game which put him with Nolan Ryan and Steve Carlton as the only pitchers to surpass 4000 strikeouts in a career.

2010: Jorge Posada hits a grand slam for the second consecutive day. He joins Bill Dickey and Babe Ruth as the only Yankees to accomplish the feat.

2012: Matt Cain throws a perfect game against the Astros. He became the first Giants player to accomplish the feat and the 22nd player in Major League history to throw a perfect game.
