A look at June 12th in the pages of Baseball History

1880: Lee Richmond throws the first perfect game in baseball history as the 23 year old tosses the gem and defeats Cleveland 4-0.

1939: Lou Gehrig plays his final game as a Yankee in an exhibition game against the Kansas City Blues. He played only three innings and grounded out in his only at bat of the game.

1997: The first interleague game in Major League history is played between the Giants and the Rangers. The Giants won the game 4-3 and Glenallen Hill becomes the first National League player to be a designated hitter in a regular season game.

2007: Justin Verlander tosses a no hitter against the Brewers. The accomplishment was the first no hitter ever thrown at Comerica Park.

2012: Alex Rodriguez ties Lou Gehrig's Major League record when he hits his 23rd career grand slam in a 6-4 victory against the Braves.
