Prior to the start of the game tonight the Colorado Rockies made some roster moves in hopes of turning things around for the better. They designated Reid Brignac for assignment and they also placed Jeff Francis on the disabled list. This move allowed the Rockies to call up DJ LeMahieu who has tore the cover off of the ball at AAA. The 27 year old Brignac was hitting .250 on the year with one home run and six RBI. He had a rough start to his career as a Rockie as he made a couple of errors playing third base in the first week he was with the team. Not a great way to win the fans over, especially fans who thought that LeMahieu should have made the club out of Spring Training. The Rockies will have 10 days to work out a trade with another club, place him on waivers, or release him outright. LeMahieu has done nothing but hit as a member of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. At the time of his call up he was hitting .364 with one home run and 22 RBI in just 33 games. He also added five triples and eight stolen bases. He will fill in as the utility guy for the Rockies as he can play all of the infield spots. Rob Scahill was also called up to fill in for the pitching staff until Jeff Francis returns from the DL.
