This Day in Baseball History: 5/28

     A look at May 28th in the pages of Major League Baseball history

1941- The First night game in Major League Baseball history is played between the Washington Senators and the New York Yankees. The Yankees won the game 6-5.

1951- After starting his career 0-12, rookie center fielder Willie Mays finally gets his first hit which happens to be a 450 foot home run off of future hall of famer Warren Spahn

1979- George Brett hits for the cycle and caps off the night with his second home run of the game in the 16th inning which gives the Royals a 5-4 walk off victory against the Baltimore Orioles. 

2004- Mariano Rivera records his 300th career save as he shuts the door on the Devil Rays and secures the win for the Yankees. 

2006- Barry Bonds hits his 715th career home run and passes Babe Ruth for second on the all time home run list.
